The term Lampworking is centuries old and refers to the oil lamps once used  to melt the glass.  Each one of our lampwork beads begins as a glass rod of Moretti, Effetre, Lauscha and others.

We then create our glass beads by heating the glass rod with a torch until it's molten, and then form the bead around a steel rod. The bead is then hand shaped and embellished using a variety of techniques and goes straight from the torch to a kiln to stabilize the glass and add strength and heirloom durability.
