Working on the torch to create Lampwork Beads

The term Lampworking is centuries old and refers to the oil lamps once used to melt the glass. Each one of our lampwork beads begins as a rod of Moretti, Effetre, Lauscha and/or Northstar glass. We then create our glass beads by heating the glass rod with a torch until it's molten, and then form the bead around a steel rod. The bead is then hand shaped and embellished using a variety of techniques and goes straight from the torch to a kiln to stabilize the glass and add strength and heirloom durability.
